Dear Bunty, Chris & Team,
On behalf of Veterans Strong Community Center, I want to thank you for your support and involvement. Your generosity of a facility for the state Stand Down event held in Bristol provided space for our vendors and our 135 attendees. Through your support we are able to provide several services to our country’s bravest. Thank you for making that possible.
VSCC continues to see growth in the services provided, outreach through various community and civic organizations, as well as contacts with Veterans and Service Members. With funds raised through our Anniversary Bash and numerous other events we held in 2021, VSCC will continue to provide gift cards for groceries and gas, as well as bus passes, for those Veterans and Service Members most in need. 2021 saw exciting new partnerships as we joined the Bob Woodruff Foundation as a Got Your 6 partner (the first organization in Connecticut to do so) and our Executive Director became a member of Connecticut’s largest BNI (Business Network International) chapter. This year has exciting changes ahead as we work to implement new case management software to help VSCC better service our clients from any location. We are also offering new classes in 2022. They include Financial Literacy, Cooking On A Budget and Mental Health First Aid.
VSCC continues to work with clients in the greater Bristol area – providing information and resources, connecting them to services such as Veterans Service Officers, employment assistance, Vet Center counselors, and housing programs. In 2021 we started a very successful Secret Santa program for our veterans in skilled nursing facilities. We will expand this to other holidays throughout the year, like Valentine’s Day, Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day.
